With the return of the popular Ottumwa restaurant "Appanoose Rapids," owners Dale and Natalie Dommer have provided me with some exciting business opportunities. First came a practical solution for their front window of the establishment. Rather than providing the public with a view into the less exciting parts of a kitchen (walk-in refrigerator and 3-compartment sink), the owners wanted to showcase one of Ottumwa's most iconic landmarks. With the space in mind, I was commissioned to take an impressive shot of the historic Jefferson Street Bridge at night. Just in time for RAGBRAI, this additional curb appeal helped grab people's attention and draw them in for a meal. The photograph isn't permanent, and will most likely be changed again this year with something new.
In the preparation for a successful new year, I was also contracted to take photographs and develop a brand new website for the restaurant. While the site is in its final stages of development, a cover page and menu is currently in place. To see the site, tap the link here. The photographs for the website were also used for a To-Go menu, distributed to local supporters, businesses, and hotels around the community.
