"Cradle - College - Career is a collaboration of education, business, government, labor and non-profit sectors, working together using Collective Impact to increase the number of Ottumwa students and citizens alike who are ready for, have access to and persist in reaching their goals to obtain a college degree or credential. C3 was launched in 2014 with support from the Iowa College Student Aid Commission as part of their College Changes Everything network of communities. C3 is a long-term commitment for Ottumwa."
The film features the stories and journeys of various members of the Ottumwa community in their quest to obtain an education. Stories like that of Patty Galvan-Ramos, the daughter of migrant seasonal farm workers, who’s hard work in school awarded her with a new chance at a future with a scholarship from Central College. Along with these stories of hope, risk, and determination, are interviews from local educational leaders about the need and potential opportunities for students with a program like C3. It is our hope that this film, with its variety of stories and ethnic representations, will speak to all students and families in Ottumwa, to help tear down the barriers of indecision and sow the seeds of a college-going culture.
The film was premiered at the C3 conference in October of 2016 and now serves as a resource for educators and administrators in the Ottumwa area. Stay tuned for more videos and their website information in the near future!
